Entreprenuer Special!

Wednesday, July 28th, 2010

Everyone should have a professional headshot, but they can be expensive.  I am offering a special that will run until August 15th for those looking for a professional headshot.  Please note that this will not be a studio type headshot.  I’d much rather capture the person you are in a natural setting.  Let’s use the session to explore who you are and how you want to be portrayed!

Entrepreneur Special

$125 (including HST) for a 30 minute photo session and 4 digital images of the client’s choice with full rights to use on Facebook, Twittter, LinkedIn or which ever social media site you prefer.

Your picture will NOT be the typical corporate headshot.  It will be a fun, casual picture representing who you feel you truly are as a person.

The Fine Print

  • You must be self-employed.  Receipt will be provided so you can claim as business expense.
  • You must be willing to meet me at an outdoor location that is within 50 KM of my home in Brampton.
  • Photo session must be booked (session fee paid) by August 15th and completed by November 30, 2010.
  • The files you receive will not be watermarked, however, I do ask that you provide credit to me.

To book your session, please visit my contact form and select “Headshots” as the event type and a date you’d be available.  Please note that I am a mom and wife first, so my availability is limited to evenings and weekends.  I will do my best to accommodate the date that you’ve selected.

If you have any questions, please let me know!

Meet Warrior Dalan! {Hanover Family Photographer}

Sunday, July 25th, 2010

Tonight I had the honour of meeting the Frook family, and their son Dalan.  Dalan is a courageous boy who is fighting Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia. He was diagnosed at the Age of 5 and has been undergoing treatments for the last two years. He is doing remarkably well and has one year left of treatment. His last treatment day will be July 7, 2011 and from what mom Robyn told me, it will be a day to remember for sure!

Robyn and her husband Dwayne keep a journal of Dalan’s journey at http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/dalanfrook.  Please take a moment to visit the website to hear the latest about Dalan.

Dalan has a wonderful big sister Brontae who has the most beautiful blue eyes!  It was such a pleasure to photograph them all for the Littlest Heroes Project.  I hope they enjoy their sneak peek!

And of course, caught the kids having some fun!

Feeling Awesome!

Friday, July 16th, 2010

Update July 19th – Thanks to everyone who entered.  The contest is now closed.

Today, on Twitter, I was mentioned by three people that I am awesome.  That made me feel pretty darn good, and I thought what a great opportunity to run a little contest!  This is going to be a Twitter only contest and will run for one week.  The winner will be randomly selected on Saturday, July 24th (date changed due to overwhelming response!) Monday, July 19th and announced on Twitter!

Here is what the winner will receive (a $250 value):

  1. A photo session with me for either child, family or individual portraits.  I’m sorry but I cannot extend this to newborn sessions, but I will do maternity sessions.
  2. One digital image that can be used for a Twitter avatar and/or Facebook profile.
  3. One 8×10 portrait of the winner’s choice from the photo session.

Here is how you enter:

  1. You have to follow me on Twitter:  http://twitter.com/JenGPhotog If you’re not following me, your entry will be disqualified.
  2. Tweet the following:  I’m tweeting to win @JenGPhotog’s awesome contest for a free photo session!  http://ht.ly/2cFok for details.

That’s it.  Pretty simple right?  :)

Now, there is some fine print:

  1. Since I live in Brampton, the photo session must occur at a location of my choice which will either be in Mississauga, Brampton, or Oakville.  You must be willing to travel to me.
  2. I would prefer to do the session in the evening, 1-2 hours before sunset.  Honestly, this is the best time to do pictures.  The light is truly amazing!
  3. The session must occur before October 15, 2010.
  4. The winner must agree to sign a model release which allows me to use the images for my business purposes.  I do not use client images to enter contests or sell the images to a third party without the client’s prior consent.
  5. You can enter once per day.
  6. If you have won a contest from me in the last year or had a session with me recently (in the last three months), you are ineligible to enter.  Sorry but gotta give others a chance too!

Last, but certainly not least, I want to thank Julie, Amanda and Jane for inspiring me to do this today!  You three are all awesome!  Readers, please make sure you check them out and follow them too!  :)

I’ve got AntzinmePantz4 @MarcReyerGrant

Tuesday, July 13th, 2010

Tonight I was invited to Antz in your Pantz in Oakville to photograph a fundraiser to support of the soft launch of Councilor Marc Grant’s 2010 re-election campaign for Ward 5 Local Councillor in Oakville.  I was more than happy to do so!  Marc’s wife, Tracy Grant is a friend of mine and she has an awesome basket company called Barley Sugar Creations!  It was a lot of fun networking with friends such as Tina Gilbert, Christina Da Costa, Robyn Connolly, Tiffany Durcak, Maureen Turner, Tamara McPherson and many more!  Thanks for having me out tonight Tracy & Marc!  Here are just a few pictures from the event:

Miss Maeve in the Park! {Toronto Child Photographer}

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Today I was delighted to meet Maeve for her one year portrait session.  I met Maeve’s mom, Kathryn, at a networking event hosted by Leigh Mitchell’s fabulous group, Mom Entrepreneur’s Network, a few months ago.  Kathryn is a Disney Travel Specialist and a wonderful lady!  But enough about her…today was all about Maeve!

Maeve was much too interested in her surroundings today.  I can’t blame her though, because High Park is a very interesting place.  We did manage to get some wonderful pictures of her as she watched the geese, explored the flowers and settled down with some afternoon reading.  It was great walking around with Maeve, mom and dad and exploring the park.

Thanks so much for having me out today.  I hope you love your sneak peek!

Another Isabella! {Brampton Newborn Photography}

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

Hello Isabella!

You are the third Isabella I’ve had the pleasure of photographing since starting my business in 2008.  I can’t say you were the cutest, because all three are equally beautiful (and I’d have two moms really mad at me ;) ) but I can say you slept the most even though you were a hungry girl!  When the milk coma hit, you were out!  At 8 lbs, 7 oz and just 6 days old, you were one perfect model!

Readers, it was a HOT one today.  We had +30 C temperatures and humidity making it feel into the 40s.  It made for good newborn conditions though because newborns love the warmth.  It helps them sleep very well.  A sleepy baby is easier to photograph then an awake one only because they won’t move and are easier to pose (just in case anyone was wondering).

Thank you Megan and Rolando and big brother Ethan for allowing me to share this special time in your lives.  I can’t wait to see this little girl (and Ethan) grow into beautiful children and adults!  I hope you love your sneak peek!

Rock n’ Roll!!! {Burlington Family Photography}

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

Today I had the pleasure of photographing Tiffany of TravelFamily.ca and her lovely family! Tiffany was the lucky recipient of a free family session through a contest I ran in conjunction with Wondermoms.ca which is a family resources website based in Oakville, but becoming known EVERYWHERE!

I really wanted to do a beach session, and being that Tiffany had agreed to meet me half way between her home and mine, I choose Burlington. I don’t really know the area that well, so when I arrived at the location I discovered that it was a very rocky terrain…in other words there was no beach, just rocks. Can you say ouch? Tiffany and her family were great sports though, and we got some fabulous images! I’ve put together a collage of some of my favourites for their sneak peek.

Now, let’s see some of these close up, plus a few candid shots I got!

Thank you so much Tiffany and family for meeting me in Burlington for your session!  I had a fabulous time, and it was a real pleasure to meet your family!  We must try to do coffee some day.  I think you and I would have A LOT to chat about!  :)

Evening light! {Brampton Family Photographer}

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

I was so happy when Despina said she wanted to do an evening session.  It truly is the best light!  As you’ll see, it just warms up the skin so lovingly, and you can get some awesome sunflare too.  Despina and Dave have two gorgeous children, and I had a great time chasing after them with my camera.  They did stay still long enough for some pictures, and here are a few of my favourites!  Thank you Despina and Dave for inviting me into your world tonight.  I hope you love your sneak peek!

Things you need to know!

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Happy Canada Day everyone!  Yes, I know I’m late but I chose to spend the day with my family.  More on that later.  I have a few things that I need to update everyone on first!

HST

July 1 marked the introduction of HST in Ontario.  The HST has affected the price of a lot of things, but I’m happy to say that it has NOT affected my Creative Fee!  My fee will still remain at $150 which INCLUDES HST, so really, you’re only paying me $132.74 and the rest goes to our lovely provincial/federal government.

Print Collections

July 1 also marks the introduction of some new products at NBP.  I’m pleased to introduce my new print collections which can be added on to your session fee at the time of booking, or you can choose to purchase a collection when you place your print order.  Also, you will receive 10% off all a la carte prints when you purchase a collection.  Print collections do not include HST.  Here are the new collections:

Beautifully Simple                       1 8×10, 2 5×7, 16 Wallets                                                   $65
Beautifully Elegant                      1 11×14, 2 8×10, 4 5×7, 16 Wallets                                    $140
Beautifully Perfect                       1 16×20, 1 11×14, 2 8×10, 4 5×7, 16 Wallets                    $215

I am now offering a 20-page, 4×6 proof books as an add-on to the session fee for $45.  This is a beautiful spiral bound book with 20 of your favourite images from the session.  Each picture has a border with my company name and the image number on the bottom.

Digital Images

I realize that people do want digital images to share with friends and family, therefore I have decided that every client will receive a proof CD with their print order.  The images on the CD are watermarked, but permission is given to share these images online on websites such as Facebook, MySpace or other such websites.

Over the summer I will be analyzing my digital collections to see how I can provide the best value to my clients.  Look for the digital packages to be revamped hopefully by September 2010!

And now, some pictures!

This year was the first year I took my daughter to see the fireworks display.  My friend Sharon and I packed up the kids and took them to Orangeville.  I, of course, brought my camera to try and catch some firework images.  Let me tell you, that is not an easy task!  I don’t think I did too badly for my first time out though!  Here are a few of the images I captured:

We had a great time, but not so fun trying to get home! Ah well, it was worth it to hear my daughter say “wow mom! They look like they’re 3D”! :) Moments like that I will cherish always. Thanks Sharon for driving us up there! It was fun!
