Happy New Year!

Thursday, December 31st, 2009

I want to thank the Academy….wait, wrong speech!  :)

This past year has truly been one of the best years of my life.  I feel like I’ve been on a high all year long.  My business grew and surpassed my expectations but none of that would’ve been possible with out my fabulous family to support me!  My husband has been my rock and my children my inspiration.  None of this would’ve been possible without them!

To all my clients:  I feel so very blessed to be able to capture the wonderful memories that we created during our photo sessions!

To my new clients, and this year there was many:  You are all wonderful!  It was a pleasure meeting you all and becoming a part of your life, even if only for just a day.  I look forward to seeing you through my lens again next year!

To my returning clients:  Thank you for your continued business and referrals!  I look forward to photographing your families for years to come!

To my friends and family:  Thank you for your love and support!  You are a bunch of amazing people!  Please don’t ever change!

With love, always,

Jennifer

Refer someone for a chance to win!

What a better way to ring in the new year than with a contest!?!

The contest is easy – all you have to do is refer someone you know who is expecting a baby in 2010.  If that person books either a Maternity, Newborn or a Baby to Belly package with me by March 31, 2010, your name will be entered in a draw to win a free photo session!  It’s as simple as that!  Also, your referral will receive 10% off their print purchase!  Sweet!

To enter, please email me at jennifer@naturallybeautifulphotography.com and let me know the first and last name of the person you have referred.  In April, I will do a random draw and announce the winner on my blog.

Help spread the word about this contest by sharing it on your Facebook or Twitter account! I’m looking forward to seeing lots of entries! :)

Simply the best!

I had hoped to have this blog entry posted last week, but frankly, I had such a hard time choosing which pictures I felt were my best for 2009!  I tried to choose one from each session so be warned, this post is picture heavy!  Before we begin, I want to say thank you to all my wonderful clients!  It was a pleasure meeting and getting to know each and every one of you!  You’ve made this year simply the best!  I look forward to photographing you all again next year!
Here we go, in no particular order!

Last year’s Christmas present

Thursday, December 17th, 2009

On this day, last year, at approximately this time (7:10 pm EST), I was complaining to whoever would listen that I was 4 days overdue, so uncomfortable and worried that my son would never be born.  I was worried that I would have to be induced again and endure another 28 hour labour like I did with my daughter.

Little did I know that in just 4 short hours, I would be in labour and in just 11 hours, at 6:05 am on December 18, I would be holding my newborn son!  :)   Whoever said that complaining doesn’t get you anywhere was wrong!  ;-)

Now, it’s a year later and I sit here wondering how my little baby went form this:

To this!

Happy Birthday my sweet boy!  I love you and thank God every day you are my son!

Giving is Awesome!

Photobucket

On Saturday, December 12, I participated in the Help Portrait with 4 other amazing photographers!  It was such a wonderful experience and filled my heart with such joy!  I met some wonderful people and awesome kids!  It made me realize even more that Giving is Awesome.  I just have to do it again, and soon, like NOW!

You probably know someone. You know someone who has experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who may not be able to afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $1000 worth, to be exact. This awesome giveaway will include my creative session fee, a high-resolution CD of their session as well as a selection of prints of their choosing.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $200 print credit towards their order when they book a session with me (full session fee still applies), which is a perfect way to spruce up your walls and as a little thank you for opening up your heart and nominating someone. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

  1. You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be unable to purchase custom photography services.
  2. The nominee must reside in the Greater Toronto Area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve this session. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.
  3. You must nominate someone by telling me the full story using by sending an email to me at jennifer@naturallybeautifulphotography.com.

The deadline for entries is December 25, 2009 and the winner will be announced on New Year’s day. — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Giving Back

Tuesday, December 8th, 2009

This Saturday, December 12, myself along with 3 other photographers and several volunteers are participating in the Help-Portrait movement. We have set up space at the Wellesley Community Centre in Toronto. We will be photographing members of the community for free as a Christmas gift to them, and providing an 8×10 print, also free of charge.

This event is not only happening in Toronto, but in cities around the world. At last count, there were over 7,000 participants world-wide! It’s an amazing thing that I am thrilled to be a part of!

If you know anyone in that area who you think would benefit, please let them know about this event. We have approximately 11 single moms signed up and will be there from 10 am to 2 pm. We would be thrilled to have some walk-in clients also!

Also, if you want to volunteer your time, we’re looking for another person who could help with doing make up. You don’t need to be an artist, but some experience with make up application would be beneficial.

For more information about the movement, you can visit http://www.help-portrait.com.

Christmas at my house!

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Remember my hard drive failure – my wonderful husband saved my pictures by using Linux to read the drive! It was an early Christmas present for me!

The tree is finally up! This year I did something different and put ribbon instead of tinsel on the tree. I have to say I quite like it! We each have our favourite ornaments that we like to hang. My daughter was a wonderful help decorating the tree this year, and she can’t stop touching the tree now! Here are a few pics of our beautiful tree!
