High Park

Tuesday, May 5th, 2009

On Saturday, on a whim, I decided to take the kids to High Park in Toronto to see the cherry trees in full bloom.  It was a lovely day.  The park was very busy!  I was VERY lucky to find a parking spot near the children’s playground on my second drive around the park!  Since I was by myself with the kids (hubby had to work), I wasn’t able to walk freely to take a lot of pictures, but I did manage to get these!

We met some interesting people through out the day and even came across a fencing class!

Then we walked over to the cherry trees.

Of course, S wanted to climb a tree (read: I made her sit there for picture purposes!)

We met a St. Bernard along the way.

We also met a quiet, old man.

And finally, what we drove 40 km for, the money shot:

We headed back to the car just in time as the sky opened up and it began to pour!  It was a lovely day!  Afterwards, we went to visit daddy at work and see the new office building to where his company is moving.

S fell asleep on the way home.  This is a cell phone pic, so don’t mind the bad composition!

The perfect end to a perfect day!  =)

Last week Sarah had a playdate with a friend she hasn’t seen since November.  They attended dance class together, and I have known her mother for a few years now.

Sarah and V met when they were just babies at the Mother Goose program put on by the Ontario Early Years centre.  Obviously that is where I met V’s mom too!  I have a group of mommy friends I met through the program, however, most of the children are boys.  V is the only girl friend her age that she likes to play with.

V is very much a girly girl, more so than Sarah.  V must wear a dress every day and has her ears pierced.  Sarah thinks this is just awesome, as you can see in the picture.  She was fascinated by the earings and of course asked to have her ears pierced.  When I told her that it hurts to have them done, she quickly backed down!

Sarah seems to be in such a rush to grow up.  She was looking at makeup today and asked if she could have some.  I explained that it’s for older girls and she asked how long it would take to become a grown up.  I told her not to grow up too fast and that I liked her just the way she is!  Beautifully Innocent!

Week 4

This week I let someone else use my camera! There are only two people who I will let use my camera – my husband and my dad. This week my dad got the prestigious honour! I did have to remind him to put the strap around his neck, to which he responded “I’m not going to drop it!” Famous last words I say!

No, he didn’t drop it, but he did snap this great picture!

The kids and I spent the last few days at my parents’ house helping my mother recuperate from surgery which she had on Tuesday. I would have taken a picture of her, but she wouldn’t have allowed it! Being with her this week made me realize how strong of a woman she is. She still wanted to help cook breakfast, lunch and dinner and keep the house clean, to which we promptly told her to sit down and relax.

By Saturday she was doing much better and I felt comfortable coming home. She has a home nurse who visits every few days also. She’ll have to go in for a follow up appointment at some point to find out if the Cancer spread anywhere, but we’re fairly certain it didn’t, since it was caught so early.

Explaining surgery to a three year old is interesting too. Mom told my daughter that she had to be gentle when giving hugs and kisses, to which S took that to mean “don’t touch me, you’ll hurt me!” Mom eventually did get a hug out of her though!

So now we’re back at home, looking forward to the coming week. Apparently we’re going to see the sun 3 days this week! I’ll be sure to post the happy dance pictures!

Week 3

Having a new baby in the house is a big adjustment for everyone. Having a new baby and a 3 year old is an even bigger adjustment. Almost daily I have to remind my daughter that the baby is not a toy and that she has to be gentle when trying to cuddle and kiss him. She does love him very much but doesn’t realize that her 34 pounds is a bit too heavy for his bouncer chair! Thank goodness there is a seatbelt in that thing because one day she’s going to bounce him right out of it!

I can almost see him flinging up in the air with me making the diving save to catch him before he hits the floor! All the more reason to always use the seatbelt provided!!!

52 weeks

Monday, January 19th, 2009

This year I’ve decided to document my everyday life in pictures. I’ve committed myself to taking at least one picture per week to post and talk about. I just can’t commit to doing a picture per day with two children to care for!

I’m already behind on the posts so here it goes!

Week 1
This was my husband’s first week back to work after the baby was born. He was off for 3 weeks from Dec 15 to Jan 5. He just happened to be sick for 2.5 of those weeks which, of course, made me and my daughter become ill too. We both got colds and were exhausted all the time.

We managed through it and are much better now!

Week 2
This week the children allowed me to do a photo shoot with them. I thought it would be a good opportunity to use my remote and get me in some of the pictures too. It was way too cold to go outside so I spent the day in comfy pants! Those are the days I’m glad I don’t work full time!
