Things you need to know!

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

Happy Canada Day everyone!  Yes, I know I’m late but I chose to spend the day with my family.  More on that later.  I have a few things that I need to update everyone on first!

HST

July 1 marked the introduction of HST in Ontario.  The HST has affected the price of a lot of things, but I’m happy to say that it has NOT affected my Creative Fee!  My fee will still remain at $150 which INCLUDES HST, so really, you’re only paying me $132.74 and the rest goes to our lovely provincial/federal government.

Print Collections

July 1 also marks the introduction of some new products at NBP.  I’m pleased to introduce my new print collections which can be added on to your session fee at the time of booking, or you can choose to purchase a collection when you place your print order.  Also, you will receive 10% off all a la carte prints when you purchase a collection.  Print collections do not include HST.  Here are the new collections:

Beautifully Simple                       1 8×10, 2 5×7, 16 Wallets                                                   $65
Beautifully Elegant                      1 11×14, 2 8×10, 4 5×7, 16 Wallets                                    $140
Beautifully Perfect                       1 16×20, 1 11×14, 2 8×10, 4 5×7, 16 Wallets                    $215

I am now offering a 20-page, 4×6 proof books as an add-on to the session fee for $45.  This is a beautiful spiral bound book with 20 of your favourite images from the session.  Each picture has a border with my company name and the image number on the bottom.

Digital Images

I realize that people do want digital images to share with friends and family, therefore I have decided that every client will receive a proof CD with their print order.  The images on the CD are watermarked, but permission is given to share these images online on websites such as Facebook, MySpace or other such websites.

Over the summer I will be analyzing my digital collections to see how I can provide the best value to my clients.  Look for the digital packages to be revamped hopefully by September 2010!

And now, some pictures!

This year was the first year I took my daughter to see the fireworks display.  My friend Sharon and I packed up the kids and took them to Orangeville.  I, of course, brought my camera to try and catch some firework images.  Let me tell you, that is not an easy task!  I don’t think I did too badly for my first time out though!  Here are a few of the images I captured:

We had a great time, but not so fun trying to get home! Ah well, it was worth it to hear my daughter say “wow mom! They look like they’re 3D”! :) Moments like that I will cherish always. Thanks Sharon for driving us up there! It was fun!

Hi! It’s just me!

Saturday, June 26th, 2010

Tonight my friend Sharon and I did a “headshot session” for each other up in Kleinburg, Ontario.  Sharon found this historical train station built in 1900.  We were hoping the old tracks were still there, but unfortunately they had been taken out some time ago.  Regardless, we did what every photographer would do and made the best out of the situation!

I’m so happy with the pictures Sharon took!  Thank you so much Sharon!  You are awesome!

Moving Forward and Going Green! {Brampton Photographer}

Friday, May 7th, 2010

I’m happy to announce that this morning I launched a new portal on my website that will allow clients to book a session directly and will help me go green with my business!

On the left hand side of my website, and at the top of this blog, there is a menu item called “Book Your Session”.  Click on that and it will take you to a page where you can select your package.  Choose the package and enter your contact information on the next page.  I will then receive an email and follow up with you regarding your contract, model releases and payment.  Your contract and model releases will be done electronically – going green is great!

Another new feature I am introducing is a session questionnaire.  This will help me to get to know you better, and together we can envision your session and pictures!

I’m very excited to move my business forward so that I can bring you a more personalized service!

New commenting system

Saturday, May 1st, 2010

I’ve just installed Disqus for commenting system.  I don’t think you have to register with Disqus to comment and hopefully the spam won’t come through.  Please feel free to test it out!

Thanks!

A fresh, new, naturally beautiful look!

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

I’ve been working on updating my website over the last few weeks and have changed the layout completely!  Today it is ready for all to see!

I just love this new look!  My favourite part is the background image!  I’ve updated all my galleries to include my sessions from the last year and tried to incorporate as many clients as I could.  If yours isn’t there, it will be eventually!  :)

Thanks for looking, and please feel free to leave a comment.  I LOVE COMMENTS!

Ch-ch-changes!

Saturday, August 29th, 2009

I’m pleased to announce that NBP has a fresh new logo, as you can see above and on the website! I’m also happy that the website is working much better now! It turns out I had too many images on my slideshow which was causing the website to load slowly. Go figure!

I’m also working on some new products and packages for the upcoming Christmas season! Stay tuned for details! There may be another Facebook contest in the works too! If you’re not already a fan, you can join in the fun on Facebook!

Website Issues

Wednesday, August 26th, 2009

It’s come to my attention that my website is not working for Internet Explorer users but is fine in Firefox and Safari. Apparently it’s because I put too many pictures up!

Le sigh!

I am in process of fixing it!

Thanks!

Green!

Monday, April 27th, 2009

As I was driving to my friend’s house this morning, I noticed that the trees were no longer brown, but had a hint of green starting to shine through. It warmed my heart to know that the good weather is finally here! I have 3 photo sessions coming up in May and June and need that green to make everything perfect!

In other news…

I have a Twitter account now if you’d like to following me! http://twitter.com/Jen_NBP.

Also, I updated my blog header to be more like a slideshow. I’m going to do some more tweaking but so far, I love it! Thanks Amy for pointing me in the right direction!

I’ve got an itch!

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

I’ve really got the itch to get outside and shoot pictures.  We’ve had some beautifully sunny weather, but it’s been quite chilly.  The other problem is that the grass is still brown and the trees have not started to bud yet.  It’s going to be a few more weeks before things get really nice around here.  In the mean time, I’ll have to take pictures in the house!  It’s not such a bad thing really, but gets boring!

The website launch was very successful!  I’ve received 3 inquiries about doing sessions.  One was from an old chum who lives in BC now but is visiting Ontario in August.  The other is from a high school friend that has a baby only a week younger than my son, and the third was from a complete stranger.  I’m excited about these and hope to have a busy summer!

My 52 week project went down the tubes.  I tried, I really did, but between the kids getting sick, myself getting sick 3 times this year already and my oldest starting preschool up again, it’s been hard to find time to take pictures, never mind processing them!  I did manage to snap these last week on my son’s 3rd month birthday:

Going through some older files, I came across this funny one and had to share! I think my son really likes natural light!

The other day I asked my daughter what she wants to be when she grows up, and she said “A photographer!” She truly is a mommy’s girl!

We’re live! | Brampton Area Photographer

My new website went live as of 6 pm EDT today, and everything went off without a glitch! I’m very happy to finally have a proper website to display my work instead of using the Flickr website as my portfolio!

Please take a moment to view my new website! I’d love to hear what you think about it!
